We have an opening for a Multilateral Diplomacy Officer to support the Office of the US Global AIDS Coordinator at the US Department of State. The position will be located in Washington DC. Additional information about S/GAC and PEPFAR is available at www.pepfar.gov. Introduction The incumbent serves as Multilateral Diplomacy Officer in the Multi-Sector Responsibility unit of S/GAC. The Multi-Sector Responsibility unit of S/GAC is responsible for leading S/GAC’s efforts in diplomatic advocacy, multilateral collaboration and coordination and promoting leadership in the worldwide response to HIV/AIDS, especially in international organizations such as the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (Global Fund); UNAIDS; the World Health Organization; the World Bank; and UNICEF. To achieve these goals, Multilateral Diplomacy provides U.S. leadership in diplomatic, multilateral and intergovernmental relations on behalf of S/GAC to build international support for the Emergency Plan, to encourage others to provide resources furthering implementation of complementary programs and to mobilize international political leadership to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic; serves as the technical resource for the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator on all matters related to the Global Fund, especially those involving the U.S. Government’s role as a member of the Board of Directors and relevant committees; acts as a liaison to the White House, the National Security Council, the State Department and other U.S. Government departments, agencies and missions on issues related to multilateral organizations and international health and development issues; and, participates in processes to develop and define the U.S. Government’s position with regard to the global HIV/AIDS pandemic in international agreements and with multilateral organizations, including the UN, UNAIDS, UNICEF, WHO, and the World Bank, regional organizations such as OAS, and through bilateral agreements with other donors.
